3.8.2 1800 13-Dec Plymouth ‘Dear Madam’ Mrs Johnston, Stromness Ann Taylor John Taylor  17 weeks ‘cruising’ off the Spanish coast, Ann expecting 'to be laid up in February'.  'Lord St Vincent is so tyrannical in his orders'.   p p

Aunt, Ann Taylor’ Refers to his accident.  Responding to his seeking advice on continuing in the navy.  Hoping to get John (?) his commission before next year.  'Your uncle has quitted Somerset House'. p  
3.8.8 1809 3-Apr Haydon Square, London ‘Dear Henry’  Henry Johnston, HMS Audacious, Portsmouth ‘Your affect. Aunt, Ann Taylor’ Thanking him for receipt of £5 plus a necklace & making arrangements for the setting.  Also giving an introduction to a friend in Portsea.  p

3.8.11 1812 22-Jul Belle Cottage, Middle Deal ‘Dear Henry’  Henry Johnston, HMS Barfleur, Spithead ‘Your affect. Aunt, Ann Taylor’ Henry to leave Navy for health reasons but Ann still pursuing promotion prospects for him.  'In regard to Maria I know not what to say or what to believe' ! p

Aunt, Ann Taylor’ Relieved that all 'is as it should be with regard to Maria'.  Entreating him to seek promotion. 'Your Uncle has been off Flushing these thirteen weeks'. 'My little Frederick is now 15 months old'. p  
3.8.13 undated     ‘Dear Mrs Johnston’ Ann Taylor Sorry you are going from home at the time Henry intends being there'.  Jane going to Plymouth to see that Maria is 'happy and comfortably settled'. p
